What it means

The project at hand sought first and foremost to allow the LGBTQ community in San Antonio an outlet to speak on their own behalf and explain the depth of meaning and effect attached to marriage equality rights and their future in Texas.  A secondary purpose was to highlight both the diversity and solidarity of the community.  It exists across gender, age-range, ethnicity, cultural identification and socio-economic status. The reasons for wanting marriage equality range from the personal and individual to societal and theoretical levels. Some interviewed expressed the desire to protect one’s own family and marriage while others spoke of community-based desires for recognition as deserving of equal rights, whether or not one decides to marry.
Yet within the community, there are places where all stand together.  Reasons and hopes that span diversity.  Some of the condensed responses to this project’s question can be seen below and the reader may notice that there is a range and also agreement in certain areas.
